Acceptable Use Policy

JANET is the name given to the networking services and facilities provided by funding councils and other bodies to support the UK educational research community.

The Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to the Acceptable Use Policy established by the United Kingdom Education and Research Networking Association (UKERNA). Any breach of the Policy should be drawn to the attention of the New Media Manager.

How links are chosen for the Omega website

The Omega website (www.omega.mmu.ac.uk) includes links to partner websites particularly but not exclusively, the nine universities which make up the Omega partnership (Manchester Metropolitan University, Cambridge, Cranfield, Leeds, Loughborough, Oxford, Reading, Sheffield and Southampton) and other external non-Omega websites. We select links that demonstrate the Omega partnership, are editorially relevant to the content they are linking from and are suitable for the likely audience.

These links are included for a number of reasons, including:

• for further relevant information or other key source material
• for background information
• for useful practical information
• for further informed comment

We do not link to external sites in return for cash, services or any other consideration in kind.

We do not normally link to sites which are not free to access. However, users may be asked to register before viewing the content.

The Omega homepage does not accept submissions or requests. The Omega team selects links and evaluates websites on the basis of editorial relevance.

Links to external websites

External links are selected and reviewed when the homepage is published. However, Omega is not responsible for the content of external websites. This is because:

• Omega does not produce them or maintain/update them
• Omega cannot change them
• They can be changed without Omega's knowledge or agreement.
