Chris Wilson is the director of Sheffield University’s Low Carbon Combustion Centre, a joint venture with the University of Leeds.
His research interests include theoretical and experimental research into combustion and fuel cells, a field in which he has over 130 publications and several patents to his name.
Before joining the University of Sheffield, he spent nine years at QinetiQ where he was the Technology Chief for the Combustion and Environment group. This multi-disciplinary group carried out research into combustion and the effects of emissions on the environment.
His background is primarily in aviation effects and he was a lead author on the 1998 intergovernmental panel report on aviation and the global atmosphere. While at QinetiQ, he was instrumental in setting up the QinetiQ Power Group, serving the UK and European energy sectors.
Before joining QinetiQ, Chris spent nine years as a combustion specialist with Rolls Royce. He is a chartered engineer, Fellow of the Energy Institute, Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, member of the Combustion Institute, member of the Institute of Atomisation and Spray Systems and elected member of the International Gas Turbine Institute technical committee on combustion and fuel.
